MEXICAN CORN BEAN SOUP Shelf Stable Pantry Collaboration
My mom made that a lot that and cabbage and potatoes it's good 👍
I been watching chicken and waffle videos and this is the way I know of it 😊
Love the music that you started out with and love it thank you so much
Try the Moravian sugar cake
My Lancaster background love your meal's
Add some fresh diced tomatoes yummy
My friend adds crushed pineapple Yummy
Allentownian-PA Dutchie .... Amish baked beans are soooo GOOD!!! When my grandmother's, mother, and aunts made this, they'd make GALLONS of it! Mostly for family reunions, holidays, and church socials. One ingredient they sometimes added that took it up a level, was pineapple. Chunks, rings, or crushed. Sometimes with a bit of the juice. No measurements, all "eye-balled" 😂😂😂 Amazing! Also, they added yellow mustard ..... no molasses usually. Our family made "Depression" BBQ sauce with ketchup, yellow mustard, and brown sugar. The mustard measure should be half that of the ketchup volume. Brown sugar to taste. And a little salt, which enhances the sweetness. Serve hot, or cold.
Yum!!
Wow that looks delicious.😊
They look delicious!❤️
My cabbage noodle recipe includes sweet onion . 80 percent cabbage 20 percent sweet onion. 5or 6 sections of garlic clove. 2 ts of sugar. Important Hungarian sweet paprika. . I don't measure. I use moor then you would think. Enough to turn it a light red. When cabbage is rendered add noodles and toss on low untill noodles take on the flavor. I also like to add kabasse.
I like to make a sour cream topping or sauce to go over at serving. Sour cream, sugar, touch of salt, a touch of fresh lemon juice.- mix and pour over slice. TY for the perfect receipt. Now if you can just tell me where to get Hoop cheese in California for real blintzes. No cottage cheese!
I've heard of this but never tried it. I think I will now! Thanks.
Brings back memories.A nearby church had a chicken and waffle supper twice a year you could eating or take out though take out cost more as they were trying to promote community by having all eat together. This church Is actually about five hundred feet into Chester County at Compass. Earliest grave stone is 1725 .You can throw a rock Into Lancaster County. Nine miles south of Intercourse. They also had fried oyster and fish suppers twice a year. Truly tasty all of it!!
Looks yummy and just made it. Let us know know how mine was. Thanks for sharing 😊
I've made this. It's so good!!
I'm so glad you like it!
8:15 Watching you stirring up the starter while watching you stirring up the starter (phone in the background)😂
Omg i love these…i always say I’m going to make them but i hardly ever do lol
I'm new at canning... is that enough salt to waterbath? Someone please answer :😊
Yes. This is a pickling recipe and you use salt on the veggies. Always turns out well and I Waterbath these. I recommend the Ball Guide to Canning. Very good!
Love all the knowledge you share! I’m going to give it a try.
Isnt that a lot of sugar???? All the recipes for Amish macaroni salad that I have found here on RUclips and online all have way less sugar in them than yours, their recipes are the same as yours and the ingredients just the amount of sugar you've added is more.
I make it the way I was taught from my Amish neighbors and this is how we like it. You can do whatever you like. But it doesn't taste the same. I only make this for parties etc so I'm lucky if I get a spoon of it.
@@PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot oh, it definitely is sweet not gaggy so. Anymore than that and it would be gaggy. 3/4 C. was plenty instead of 1 C. I bet I could of have even put 1/2 C. and it would have been sweet enough.
what brand of skillet do you have that you can use metal on the teflon coating?
That is MasteClad
Just had moose for the first time a couple weeks ago. Made moose version of boeuf bourguignon. The meat has great texture and taste. Similar to bison to me
Wonderful!
Thats what happens when brother Jeremiah and I be working all day in the hot sun?
I can't eat beans, they make me very sick, but...my wife & sister love Navy Bean Soup. I made this recipe to the "T" and they love it, thanks Helga.
I'm so glad they liked it!
Corned beef and cabbage is not an Irish dish the beef from Ireland was salted to ship to the British the Irish couldn’t afford beef cause it was all exported . Just as the Shepard pie is really made with lamb in Ireland . The American version made with ground beef is really called Shepards pie . My origin is Irish too
1. The American Version of Shepherd's Pie made with BEEF hamburger is COTTAGE PIE. Shepherd's Pie is made with lamb burger. 2. Corned beef origin-- Corned beef and cabbage actually has roots in Eastern Europe, where Jews would cure beef with “corns” of salt, hence the name “corned” beef. The British invented the term “corned beef” in the 17th century to describe the salt crystals used to cure the meat, which were the size of corn kernels. After the Cattle Acts, salt was the main reason Ireland became the hub for corned beef. Corned beef sourced from cattle reared in Ireland and Scotland was used extensively for civilian and military consumption throughout the British Empire. The traditional dish in Ireland has historically been cabbage and bacon, but Irish immigrants to the U.S. found beef to be a less expensive option at the time, so corned beef and cabbage was created here - traditional but with an American twist.
Helga you knocked it out of the park! This has definitely given me the courage to try it. 9 days...hm...
You can do it!
brown flour potato soup
Gonna give this a try. Thanks
Hope you enjoy it!
My family makes it with actual sweet corn. It was a tradition to make a big batch during the summer growing season. It fried up gold n brown and is salted before eating. Great snack! Snyder County Pennsylvania
That is awesome!
Egg noodles from the store don't taste like anything! Now I can't wait to make these and I love butter fried noodles!
Hope you like them!
When they are completely dry, can you store them in an airtight container or bag or can you freeze them?
They freeze fine, and if completely dry, an airtight container is fine.
I wish you were my Aunt Helga, that cake looked so good.
Awe, thank you!
Amazing.
Thanks!
Oh dear God... I wish I was there eating those noodles with you. Lol...no way I will ever be thin...and...I DON'T CARE!!!
Same here! LOL!
Nice recipe. I'm gonna try doing the dough with the sour cream. I've also never done sauerkraut with onions and mushrooms. I'm gonna give that a try. Thanks for sharing.
It's so good!
Rewatched. Looks so yummy. Shared on FB.. Big hugs
Awesome thank you!
Yum!!!! I’ve never thought of putting ritz crumbles mixed with it! Definitely doing that next time! 😍
It's so good!
This sounds great. I will try it soon. Juniper berries are impossible to find here in Western New York, but I was wondering if you could add some strong gin, like Bombay, which reeks of juniper, if that wouldn't do the trick.
I've just ordered the berries from Amazon or a spice place. I did not try the gin. On the other hand, I prefer to drink my Bombay, lol.
At last! A voice of reason.
Skeptical, but I just made them. Best damn biscuit I have ever eaten. I only changed one thing. After the first 10 min. I put the butter on and cranked it up to 425 for the last 10 min. Thank you for sharing!
Told ya! Glad you liked them!
Stop you're not going to add the bacon to it
Stop what? Totally added the bacon to it. See the lumps of bacon in it? Ya know, BACON gravy.....
I never saw someone keeing the herbs and vegetables in the sauce. Usually people toss those and just use the liquid . Thicken it with a dark pumpernickel or gingersnaps . Cream and the raidins in.
Why would I waste excellent vegetables? I don't do that. I like them. And I used gingersnaps.
Well rump roast looks like the cut most use. I guess i wont bother finding anything special. Cool.
Just make sure the marinade dully covers it.
Oh my 💯😁👍
Thanks Grant
So much sugar! But I will cut it back, because Miracle Whip is sweet enough.
Do as you like but it's made this way for a reason for a certain taste. Without it, it's not the same.
Tried it. Yum! Just wondering if same pineapple would go well in this dish?
No idea, never even thought of that variation!
Ei des sieht schee aus - irn schmaacht bestimmt gout! (no PA dutch, but hessian dialect) Thanks for sharing this receipt!
Der hessische Dialekt ist einfach in Ordnung! Danke!
Came back to refresh my memory. Going to make this soon. Question: I noticed no salt. Does the Tender Quick replace salt? I've never used it so I don't know anything about it.
Yes, tenderquick is a curing salt.
New subscriber. Yummylicious. Love your video and the recipe. You're a good teacher. I like the fact that you go straight to the point and you show the end result. Watching you from San Juan, Puerto Rico. ❤
Thanks so much and thanks for telling me where you're from!
